Makeup From Day to Night in 10 Minutes

Applying Lipstick

Fess up, ladies! Don’t we all just wish we had a magic wand to hasten our makeup transformation when we racing from work to industry cocktail party?

Time, as we’ve all been told, is gold. We all want to look good with less time and effort. Fortunately, there is a way to do that in 10 minutes or less! A magic wand is not yet included, but with the way technology is going right now, I really wouldn’t be surprised if that soon becomes a reality.

These make-up trends are great for busy working women who are looking for a quick day to night changeover. Are you ready? Here we go!

1) Skin

Day Time

If you’re one of those women who are blessed with flawless skin (can be attributed to your genes or because you obeyed your mum when she told you to “put moisturiser on your face” at the age of 18), a little prepping is all you need!

Step 1: You need to start with a good moisturiser such as Aylaa Cosmetica’s Anti-Aging Moisturiser. It’s a must! Apply a thin shield to your face evenly. Let it dry for a few seconds before going to step 2.

Step 2: Just like moisturiser, putting on sunscreen is crucial to protect against sun damage and premature wrinkles. Make it a habit and you will be the envy of your friends in years to come. At the very least, a sunscreen with an SPF 30+ for the face and neck and apply evenly.

Step 3: Invest in a foundation that combines makeup and skincare. It should be light and not have a caked-on effect. Apply small dots of foundation on your forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. The trick is to glide the foundation on carefully (especially on the delicate eye area).

Tip, if you’re suffering from dark circles from late nights working in front of the computer, apply an under eye concealer. It will not only mask your dark circles, it will also make your face look brighter.

Night Time

Step 4: After blotting any oil off your face,  apply a small amount of foundation as a touch up if required and use a translucent powder to set the foundation.

2) Cheeks

Day Time

Choose a blush that either has peach or light pink tones for daytime. Your goal is to have a healthy natural glow. Use a circular motion when applying powder blush on the apples of your cheeks and pat for gel types.

Night Time

Nighttime blush should be a little bit heavier; hence, choosing a deeper shade is paramount. Swirl your brush on the blush 3 times then tap excess powder before applying it to your cheeks. Always start with a small amount; it’s easier to add than to remove.

You can also define your cheekbones with a little bit of contouring. Start by sucking in your cheeks (just like the model above). Dip your angular contouring brush on the bronzer, lightly then sweep the brush from the hollowed portion below the cheekbone up to the ear. If it seems light, you can add a little more, but not too much!

3) Eyes

Day Time

Much thanks to the success of Downton Abbey, the current eye make-up trend is very subdued, just like the Crawley women. Apply an eye shadow that’s similar to your natural tones. Curl your lashes and add a bit of black or brown mascara. Groom your eyebrows and apply a brow gel to keep them in place.

Night Time

To add a bit of drama to your eyes without going overboard, put on a darker shade of eye shadow (on top of your existing shade) that compliments your eye colour. Line your upper lids with kohl pencil before applying a fresh coat of mascara on your lashes.  Why not add instant extra length and fullness with brush on Eyelash Extensions from Cherry Blooms? Simple to use and unbelievably effective in maximising your lashes. You can pick one up from By Ariane.

4) Lips

Day Time

A subtle hint of colour during daytime is all you need to look fresh and professional. Try using tinted lip gloss or a lip-and-cheek tint in lieu of lipsticks.

Night Time

To get a little oomph come night time, try crimson lips. It’s a major hit on the runways. Notable maquillage experts fill in the models’ lips with rouges that ranged from reddish pink to the very vampy plums.

If you don’t get it right the first time, relax. Try again. Remember: practice makes perfect!
